  What does it mean to be a creative person?  Steve Jobs said it’s “just connecting things,” and the more dots or experiences we have to connect, the more creative we are.  John Cleese said “Creativity is not a talent. It’s a way of operating.”  Ray Bradbury said it’s “the art of muting the rational mind.”  All of that makes sense to me and it’s just the tip of the iceberg – the subject of creativity is vast.  Discussions and definitions abound throughout every discipline. While we have celebrated creative endeavors since the dawn of man, as a word, it did not come into being until a 17th century Polish poet, Maciej Kazimierz Sarbiewski, spoke of the poet as “creating anew,” even “in the manner of God.”  Thought of that way, everyone is creative. I am happy to announce that this coming January we will be releasing the paperback and Kindle versions of The Book of Is! An Introduction to How to be Guided by Being by Frank Mosca. This little gem is the last unfinished manuscript by our beloved friend, colleague and teacher. When Frank passed away this past May, I asked Linda Mosca, his widow, if I could edit and publish the manuscript. She generously gave her permission and now you will get to see what Frank called “bits and pieces of my speculations on Option mysticism.” Even though Frank did not live to complete the manuscript, in my view, this little book will tell you all need to know about The Option Method, as Frank put it, as “the ultimate Philosophy of Being.” “There is no greater gift you can give than your presence among other humans as a totally happy person.…

What is the best way to be politically correct? We want to be inclusive and understanding but we don’t want to feel as if we are tiptoeing on eggshells.  We can inform ourselves as much as possible about the correct way to address people who we identify as different from us. Transgender. Gay. Black. Blind. Handicapped. Autistic. The list goes on and on if we really think about it.  What do you call an unmarried older woman these days? Do people over 65 really like being referred to as elderly? At the end of the day, what difference does it really make if we use the so-called right terminology, if in our hearts and minds, we really are judgmental? If we act from bias instead of inclusiveness? There’s a big difference between caring about saying the right thing to someone who is different and really being totally free of judgment.…
