+ Does God exist?

[ Posted on 10.23.2018 ]

Does God exist, does happiness exist, does love exist, does the realization of my deepest desires exist, does my bright and shining future exist, do I even exist as I would love myself to be? From the largest questions to the smallest questions about the nature of what is, what we allow ourselves to strive for, is the only thing that matters. Here’s a beautiful passage by Bruce Di Marsico. Read it once and then go back and apply it to yourself and your own life. “Everybody in the world can give you very good arguments that God does not exist or that happiness does not exist, and that does not stop you from striving for it. That is very in alignment with certain saints who say, “I don’t now whether it’s possible for there to be God or not, but I don’t care. I want there to be, and…

+ Is it time to speak your truth?

[ Posted on 10.15.2018 ]

A friend of mine shared this wonderful poem from the Hopi culture with me today. It’s about community and how to be in the world, but it’s also about how to be in your own private world. With happiness and strength. Read it through as is and then read it again and change people to myself, your to my, They to I and so on. How does reading this piece change you? What does it inspire you to do? You have been telling the people, That this is the eleventh hour. Now, you must go and tell the people,That THIS is the hour,And there are things to be considered. Where are you living? What are you doing? What are your relationships? Are you in the right relationship?Where is your water?Know your garden … It is time to speak your truth.Create your community,Be good to each other.Do not look outside yourself for a leader.…

+ How to expand your consciousness without even trying.

[ Posted on 09.23.2018 ]

When I think about expanding consciousness, which has been our focus for this month, I realize it’s a wide open multi-leveled subject that can mean many different things. My focus, as always, has been on happiness. What’s the point of expanding consciousness if it doesn’t result in more happiness and less emotional suffering?  In my experience, as we deal with our unhappiness in all its forms and let go of the clockwork mechanism of unhappy thinking, our minds are free to roam the universe. Happiness is an experience of the expansion and evolution of consciousness and that is completely within the realm of what we humans are capable of. We don’t need special credentials or any permission. Within each of us are the makings of that mystic, that sage, that empath, that realized being, that guru, that enlightened being residing right alongside the makings of that person who gets pissed…

+ How can we use our creativity to be happier people?

[ Posted on 04.12.2018 ]

What does it mean to be a creative person?  Steve Jobs said it’s “just connecting things,” and the more dots or experiences we have to connect, the more creative we are.  John Cleese said “Creativity is not a talent. It’s a way of operating.”  Ray Bradbury said it’s “the art of muting the rational mind.”  All of that makes sense to me and it’s just the tip of the iceberg – the subject of creativity is vast.  Discussions and definitions abound throughout every discipline. While we have celebrated creative endeavors since the dawn of man, as a word, it did not come into being until a 17th century Polish poet, Maciej Kazimierz Sarbiewski, spoke of the poet as “creating anew,” even “in the manner of God.”  Thought of that way, everyone is creative. We all create anew every day in so many ways. Every time we do something a…

+ What are we teaching our children about work?

[ Posted on 10.13.2017 ]

What are you broadcasting to your kids about work? Perhaps you love your job and regularly share accomplishments around the dinner table. Your kids are used to seeing you energetically tackle the workweek, coming home with plenty of energy for family time. Or, work is a black hole that you disappear into each Monday, stumbling home on Friday exhausted and disgruntled. Whether you love your job or hate it (and everything in between), what do you want to teach your children about work with your attitude and behavior? And if you have an unhappy relationship with work, can you really isolate that from your family? How much energy do you have for them when you are shut down over something that went wrong on the job? What are you teaching them about how you feel about them? Maybe you don’t have the perfect job. Maybe your boss can be a…
