+ What is love?

[ Posted on 02.14.2017 ]

Enjoy this classic from Bruce M. Di Marsico on the kind of love we dream about. “To love is to be happy and do what you want. Be with.  Don’t be with. Smile.  Don’t smile. Be loving.  Don’t be loving. Be affectionate.  Don’t be affectionate. Give or say what you want. Take or ask for what you want. Do your own thing. If the one you love gets unhappy, it’s not because you are not loving them enough.  Their happiness does not depend on you.  If you find you want them to be happy, it is because you want it.  It’s not because you are a loving person or feel the need to prove to them that you are loving. You are loving if you are happy.  You will be loving if you are not afraid.” Read more

+ Who’s in charge? Me or my mind!!

[ Posted on 01.17.2017 ]

If only we could control our minds. Wouldn’t we be invincible then? Nothing could get under our skin. No one could intimidate us. We wouldn’t be afraid of anything. Our emotions would never get away from us. We could bring all our brainpower to whatever we are doing. Maybe we’d even be able to heal ourselves and overcome pain and suffering at will. Wouldn’t we be happy then! Perhaps the idea of controlling our minds is like trying to control an “unruly” puppy.  It’s the puppy’s nature to want to play. Any responsible dog owner wouldn’t expect a puppy to sit still all day long. Why even have a puppy? Perhaps the very thing we want to control in our minds is exactly the thing that makes our minds so wonderful. Our minds wants to play, skip from one thought to the next, resurrect memories at will, free associate, make…

+ Is it bad to limit the self?

[ Posted on 04.25.2016 ]

I never really liked the expression “self-limiting”, as in self-limiting beliefs, although it does comes in handy to describe how we stop ourselves – block ourselves – stand in our own way.   I use the term myself for lack of something better, but in the back of my mind there is always a tugging thought – reminding me that whenever we limit ourselves in any way, we always believe it is the best thing to do at the time, given the circumstances.  Regardless of what we might say to ourselves at the time, we could never do this if we didn’t think it was a good idea.  And guess what? Who else could make this decision but a limitless self who is always available to decide when to stop and when to go. The essence of unhappiness is believing that I will limit myself to my own detriment.  That…

+ How do you treat your happiness?

[ Posted on 04.06.2016 ]

If you had a beloved child, How would you treat their happiness? Would you ever tell that child that there is something wrong with being happy? Would you ever tell that child that happiness is impossible? Would you ever tell that child to be unhappy in order to get what she wants? No, of course not. Then why do you tell yourself these things? If you had a beloved child, How would you treasure his happiness? Would you allow others to tell your child to stop being so happy? Would you allow others to chastise your child for expressing joy? Would you allow others to angrily push your child aside for being happy? No, of course not. Then why do you do this to yourself? If you had a beloved child, How would you take care of their happiness? Would you make your child’s happiness dependent on others? Would you…
